Show Notes

  • This was the 16th time that Metallica has played Philadelphia.  The first time they played Philly was on January 12, 1985 at the Tower Theatre on the Ride the Lightning tour.

  • The last time Metallica played Philly was on October 19 and 20, 2004 at Wachovia Center on the Madly in Anger With the World tour.

  • Metallica has played in Philadelphia on the following tours: Ride the Lightning, Damage Inc., Van Halen’s Monsters of Rock, Damaged Justice, Wherever We May Roam, Summer Shit, Poor Touring Me, Garage Barrage, Summer Sanitarium ‘03, and Madly in Anger With the World. 

  • They even played a free show in the parking lot of Core States Complex on November 11, 1997.

  • This was the first time in 24 years that Ride the Lightning was performed in Philly.  The first and only time it was played was on January 12, 1985 at Darby’s.
