This was the 13th show Metallica has played in the Kansas City area. The first time they played in Kansas City was on February 16, 1985 at the Uptown Theatre touring behind Ride the Lightning.
The last time Metallica performed in Kansas City was on May 11, 2004 at Kemper Arena.
Since first playing KC in 1985, the boys have hit Kansas City on every major US Tour behind an original studio album.
This was the first time in 22 years that Ride the Lightning was performed in Kansas City. The last time it was played was on April 1, 1986 at Kemper Arena while opening for Ozzy.
This was the first time in 14 years that Harvester of Sorrow was performed in Kansas City. The last time it was played was on August 10, 1994 at Sandstone Amphitheatre on the Summer Shit ’94 tour.
